GuidedFloats is a small team and there is no ticket queue behind this form. A person reads every message, usually within two business days.

This form handles four things: fish photos for the species library, claims and corrections on a guide or outfitter profile, bad data on a waterway page, and press or partnership enquiries. Pick the reason first and the form will ask for what we actually need.

What is this about? Your name Email

Which fish is it? Photo JPG, PNG, WEBP or GIF, up to 12 MB. The original off the camera or phone is better than a shrunk copy. Where was it caught? When? Credit the photo to This is my photograph and I am giving GuidedFloats permission to publish it on the site with that credit. I can ask for it to be taken down at any time.

Sending a fish photo

The species library is illustrated with public-domain federal artwork, mostly Duane Raver’s plates for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Twenty-six of the fish we cover have no public-domain image at all. They are almost all subspecies and hybrids — westslope cutthroat, cuttbow, shoal bass, sunshine bass, kokanee — which are exactly the fish anglers photograph well and agencies never got around to painting. Every one of those pages carries a “No photo yet” panel with the same form you see above, already set to that species.

What makes a photo usable:

The whole fish in frame and in focus, filling a good part of the picture.
Daylight. Flash on a wet fish blows out the markings we are trying to show.
The fish held horizontally and supported, or resting in the net or in the water. We will not publish a photo that shows handling we would not want a first-timer to copy.
The original file straight off the phone or camera. A copy that has been through a text message is usually too small to print at the size the page needs.

You keep the copyright. Sending it gives us permission to publish it on the species page with the credit line you choose, and nothing more — we do not license it on, and one email takes it back down.

What this form is not for

Booking a trip. Use the request form on the guide’s own page so it reaches the guide instead of us.

Getting a listing removed. That has its own one-click request on the guides page — no login, no reason required, and the page stops being indexed immediately.

Fishing regulations. We never restate a state’s rules, only link to them. If a link on one of our pages is dead, that is a data report and we do want to hear about it.
