River Through Atlanta
Atlanta, Georgia
River Through Atlanta was built by Chris Scalley, who grew up in Roswell hunting and fishing the area and started the guide service in 1994 after a drift boat day on Wyoming’s Snake River convinced him the same model could work at home. He holds a history degree from Elon College and has fished in New Zealand, Ireland and Austria. The company lists a dozen fishing guides by name and states it fields upwards of 18 people across its fishing and hunting operations, having added waterfowl trips in 2005. Instruction for beginning and intermediate anglers is a permanent part of the schedule, along with spey casting sessions run as a separate booking. Scalley was named a finalist in Field and Stream’s Heroes of Conservation awards in 2007 for work protecting the fishery the business depends on.
