Breezewood Adventures
Moorefield, West Virginia · Fishes South Branch Potomac River
Breezewood runs guided float trips on the South Branch of the Potomac, fishing from canoes and kayaks over more than thirty-five miles of river. The water covered runs from Big Bend up in Smoke Hole down through the Trough in Hampshire County. Smoke Hole is a spring float, going when the flows are right and often too thin by late summer, and it needs a full day or a two- to three-day run; the Trough fishes well in spring and can be done shorter. Owner Kellan Snyder calls it one of the few stretches in West Virginia where an angler can catch trout and smallmouth bass on the same day, and has reported multiple fish over fourteen to fifteen inches alongside a good number of smaller ones. Outings run anywhere from two hours to two or three days, and bookings want at least two weeks’ notice.
