The Devils River is run as a canoe expedition rather than a day float: two-, three- and four-day trips are priced at $1,400, $1,600 and $1,800 per person respectively, moving through remote limestone canyon on water fed straight out of the aquifer. For anglers who cannot give up several days there is a fly-fishing day trip at $500 per person from a guide-piloted fishing raft, with a two-person minimum, and lunch, rods and flies or lures are included alongside the guide. Smallmouth are the prize, with largemouth and carp also on the cards. Trips run spring through summer into early autumn and dates hinge entirely on state permit availability, so the outfitter asks for months of lead time.
