Buoy 10 salmon fishing on the Columbia River opens August 1st, and August and September are described here as two of the best windows on the calendar for hooking into Chinook and Coho. Coho fishing builds from there and is expected through September and probably into October in the Buoy 10 area. Catch and release sturgeon fishing runs on the lower Columbia as a separate outing, and bottom fishing and Dungeness crab – crabbing from September 10th – fill out the rest of the season. The boat, the tackle and the know-how are provided, and every trip is built around what the party wants out of the day rather than sold as a fixed package.
