Old South Expeditions is the guiding operation of Capt. Brian Sawyer, based at 5824 S. Mickeys Pt. in Homosassa, Florida. The business works both water and marsh: light-tackle and fly charters make up the fishing side, while the same outfit also sells waterfowl hunting and spring turkey hunting, keeping a 17-foot Timber Creek duck boat alongside the flats skiff for that work. Sawyer is originally from Lakeland and spent his childhood afternoons on his grandparents’ dock, and he now covers a long stretch of coastline – his range runs from Yankeetown north and west as far as Lanark Village and Panama City, with the water around Homosassa as home base.
