Bear Paw Guides has been running guided fishing trips on Upper Red Lake since 2003, hard water and soft. Captain Tyler Brasel fishes a 21 foot fiberglass 2022 Yar Craft and takes up to four anglers, at 600 dollars for a full day and 400 for a half day of four hours; a follow boat can be added at 150 dollars each. Rods, tackle and bait are provided, life vests are aboard for adults, and fish cleaning is included at the end of the day. Guests bring a Minnesota fishing licence, rain gear and clothing for the season, a hat, sunglasses and lotion sunscreen, and a small cooler with lunch and drinks; aerosol sunscreen is not allowed in the boat. Children must bring properly sized life jackets of their own. Dates are taken first come, first served, and the service asks anglers to book early for the good ones.
