Port Washington, Wisconsin · Fishes Fox River (Wisconsin)
The walleye season opens each year on the Fox River, in mid-March, and it is the first water of the calendar rather than an add-on: millions of Green Bay walleyes run up the river to spawn and are feeding hard on the way. Hundred-fish days are described as common, as are fish of twenty-eight to thirty-three inches. Day and night trips both run. The Fox at De Pere is priced with the other spring tributary water – the bay itself, the Oconto, the Peshtigo and the Menominee, and Sturgeon Bay – at $500 for five hours, $600 for six and $800 for eight, taking one to four anglers, with a $100 deposit. The boat is a 2021 Ranger 621 on a 350hp Mercury Verado with a kicker, trolling motor, GPS and sonar, and both live and artificial baits are used.
