Hayward Fly Fishing Company
Hayward, Wisconsin
Hayward Fly Fishing Company is a full-service fly shop in downtown Hayward with a guide service attached, and the shop is the larger part of it – it claims the Midwest’s largest selection of musky, pike, smallmouth, steelhead, trout and panfish flies, and runs fly fishing schools and classes alongside the trips. Four river systems are worked from there: the St. Croix, the Namekagon, the Chippewa and the Flambeau, all of which the business describes as totally undeveloped. Erik Huber has guided for the shop since 2011 and came to it after guiding in Alaska for all five Pacific salmon species and rainbow trout. The National Park Service lists the company among the small number of outfits holding commercial use authorisation for the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway.
