This policy explains what GuidedFloats collects, why, who it goes to, and how to get it back or get it deleted. It covers guidedfloats.com and everything under it.
Who we are
GuidedFloats is a directory of public waters, fish species, fishing-access programs and the guides and outfitters who work them. The site is operated by Guided Floats, LLC, a Missouri limited liability company; in this policy “we”, “us” and “GuidedFloats” mean Guided Floats, LLC. You can reach us at hello@guidedfloats.com for anything in this policy, including access and deletion requests.

What we collect
Information you give us
- Contact and photo submissions. Your name, email address, and — if you include them — your phone number, the species and water, the date of the catch, the credit name you want shown, and your message. Photos you upload are stored in our media library.
- Availability requests to a guide or outfitter. Your name, email address, phone number, the water you asked about, your date range, party size, trip length, and any note you add.
- Water condition alerts. Your email address, the water you chose, and the level you asked to hear about (a river flow in cubic feet per second, or a lake level in feet), plus when you agreed to receive the alert and when you confirmed it.
- Profile claims, corrections and removal requests. Your name, email, phone, and the profile you are writing about.
- Guide accounts. If you claim a listing, the account details needed to sign in and view your own profile’s traffic.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Our host records the usual request data — IP address, browser user agent, the page requested, and the time.
- Submission records. When you send a form we store the IP address and browser user agent along with it, to catch spam and to enforce our per-address submission limits.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand how the site is used — pages viewed, searches run, links clicked, files downloaded, forms started and completed, and how far down a page people read.
- First-party usage counts. We keep our own daily tally of how often each guide or outfitter profile was shown, viewed, or clicked, and on which water page, so we can show that business its own numbers. These are counts only. They are not tied to you, your account, or your IP address.
Photo metadata
Photos often carry embedded metadata, including the time the shot was taken and sometimes GPS coordinates. We read it to verify submissions. We do not display photo location metadata publicly. If you would rather we never see it, strip the metadata before uploading.
Information from public records
Guide and outfitter listings that no one has claimed are built from business-level information in public records and public web pages — business name, service area, published phone number and website. They are not personal profiles, and we do not add personal contact details to them.
Cookies and analytics
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser (names beginning _ga) that give your browser a random identifier and let us tell a returning visit from a new one. Google Tag Manager itself sets no cookies. We do not run advertising or retargeting tags, and we do not operate an advertising network.
You can block these at any time: use your browser’s cookie controls, or install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on. Nothing on the site requires analytics cookies to work.
We do not currently show a cookie consent banner. If you are visiting from a region that requires opt-in consent before analytics cookies are set, use the controls above until we have one in place.
We honour Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals where our tools support them, but we cannot promise that every third-party tool respects them.
How we use what we collect
- To answer you, and to pass an availability request to the guide or outfitter you asked about.
- To review, verify and publish photo submissions you have given us permission to publish.
- To process profile claims, corrections and removal requests.
- To show a claimed business its own traffic and enquiry numbers.
- To send the condition alerts you sign up for: one email to confirm the alert, then an email when the level you chose is crossed, at most one a day per alert. We use your alert address for nothing else (no newsletters, no marketing) and we never pass it to a guide, an outfitter or anyone else.
- To keep the site working and to stop spam and abuse.
- To understand which parts of the site are useful, in aggregate.
Who we share it with
- The guide or outfitter you contacted. When you send an availability request, we pass your name, contact details and trip details to that business so they can reply. That is the point of the form. They are independent businesses and their own privacy practices apply once your enquiry reaches them.
- Service providers. Our web host, our email delivery provider, and Google (for analytics). They process data on our instructions.
- Legal. If we are legally required to, or to protect our rights, our users, or the public.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
How long we keep it
- Availability requests, contact messages and claim requests: 24 months from your last contact with us, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Published photos and their credits: for as long as the photo is published, or until you withdraw permission.
- Condition alerts: for as long as the alert is on. An alert that is never confirmed is deleted after 7 days, and a stopped alert is deleted after 30 days. Every alert email has a link to stop it.
- Server logs: as retained by our host, typically a matter of weeks.
- Analytics data: 14 months in Google Analytics.
- Daily usage counts: indefinitely. They contain no personal information.
How we protect it
The site runs over HTTPS. Form submissions are rate-limited per IP address and screened for spam. Message and enquiry records are private and visible only to site administrators. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email hello@guidedfloats.com. You can also mail a request to Guided Floats, LLC at the postal address in the Contact section below. We respond within 45 days, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
If you are in California, you have the right to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources, and the purposes; to delete it; to correct it; and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. You may use an authorised agent.
If you are in the EEA or the UK, you also have the right to object to or restrict processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. We rely on your consent for photo publication and for condition alerts, on the performance of your request for enquiries you send us, and on our legitimate interest in running and securing a working site for analytics and abuse prevention.
Business listings: corrections and removals
If you are the business named in an unclaimed listing and want it corrected or removed, use the form on the profile or email hello@guidedfloats.com. Removal requests are honoured within 72 hours.
Children
GuidedFloats is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are submitting a photo that identifies someone under 18, please have their parent or guardian’s permission first. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Visitors outside the United States
Our servers and service providers are in the United States. If you use the site from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.
Links to other sites
Guide and outfitter listings link to those businesses’ own websites, and some pages link to state agencies and data sources. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.
Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged on the site.
