South Louisiana Redfishing
Cypremort Point, Louisiana · Fishes Vermilion Bay
Vermilion Bay, described on the site as separated from the Gulf by South Marsh Island, is the home water, and the seasons are laid out in detail. Spring from March to May puts speckled trout on the shallow flats and redfish along the marsh shorelines; summer from June to August means topwater in the mornings and flounder around structure in the afternoons; autumn from September to November brings what the captain calls an epic bull redfish run in open water; and winter from December to February sees reds schooling in the deeper, protected interior marshes. Redfish are available year-round, with black drum, sheepshead, tripletail and cobia also taken. The boat is a 2023 Pathfinder 2500 Hybrid carrying a maximum of four anglers. Six-hour and eight-hour trips are sold, with boat, fuel, rods, reels, tackle, bait, ice, bottled water and fish cleaning included.
