Big River Fly Fishing

Trips cover the Kankakee River by drift boat, and smallmouth bass are what anglers come for. A half day amounts to about four hours and five river miles at $425; a full day stretches to roughly eight hours and eleven river miles at $550. The hulls are built by Boulder Boat Works, which allows quiet approaches and lets a party cover long uninterrupted runs of water. Fly rod anglers get room to fish topwater and to vary their casting as the boat moves. A deposit of $150 holds a date.
