Bronzeback Guide Service runs bass trips on Lake Champlain out of Highgate Springs, Vermont, near the Vermont-Quebec line. Captain Gilbert Gagner fishes from a tournament-equipped Ranger bass boat powered by a Yamaha outboard, targeting smallmouth bass, largemouth bass and northern pike. Trips are booked in four-hour ($400) or six-hour ($500) blocks for up to two anglers, with additional anglers taken on for $25 each. The captain draws on competitive bass tournament experience and guarantees clients will catch fish. Trips launch near Martin’s Store in Highgate Springs, which sells licenses, bait, tackle, fuel and food on site.
