Chattooga River Fly Shop

Chattooga River Fly Shop sits at 6832-A Highlands Highway on Route 28 north of Mountain Rest, a short drive from the water it is named for. Guided trips here are wade trips rather than floats, run on the Chattooga and the neighboring Chauga. The shop describes trout as the draw in the cooler months and Bartram’s bass as the warm weather target. Half day trips of four hours start at $225 for a single angler, six hour three quarter days start at $325 and eight hour full days start at $425, with prices scaling upward for larger parties and guide to guest ratios ranging from one on one up to three guides for six anglers. Waders, boots, rods, reels and all flies are covered by the trip price, and lunch is included on three quarter and full days. The retail side carries flies from the smallest midges to large stoneflies, along with lines, leaders, rods, reels, waders, boots, nets and fly tying supplies.
