Living Waters Fly Fishing

The shop breaks this river into three distinct fisheries. The headwaters below the Balcones Escarpment are narrow, ultra-clear and fast, and are fished from kayaks. The midsection begins at Cummings Dam, where the Blanco comes in, and runs down to Staples Dam through wider, cypress-lined water fished from rowed boats. Below Staples Dam the river turns remote and cut-banked, and is singled out as the top-water stretch. Half-day floats of four hours are $400 and full days of eight hours are $600, both based on one or two anglers. Because the springs push out water at a constant seventy degrees, fish still feed on a thirty-degree winter morning, so the season never really closes.
