Ouachita River Haven

The property holds a thousand feet of frontage on the Ouachita River inside the Ouachita National Forest, and kayaks, canoes and river tubes are rented from it with shuttles. Trip length is left to the paddler: the business offers anything from a four-mile run to a four-day one on the clear upper river, which moves calmly and scenically through west central Arkansas. Fishing, hiking, mountain biking and crystal mining fill the days off the water. The put-in sits about forty-five miles west of Hot Springs and thirty-five miles east of Mena, with the quartz crystal mines of Mount Ida ten miles away and the diamond ground at Murfreesboro sixty.
