Yakima River Fly Co
Cle Elum, Washington · Fishes Yakima River
Yakima River Fly Co guides the Yakima, described on the site as Washington’s only blue ribbon trout fishery, launching from Cle Elum and running down through the Ellensburg stretch. The character of the river changes along the way: the upper water near Cle Elum runs through forested foothills with pine and cottonwood banks, while downstream it opens into sagebrush hills and dramatic basalt canyons. The fish are wild rainbow and westslope cutthroat trout, working a changing menu of stonefly and mayfly hatches through the season. Floats are booked in three lengths for one or two anglers: a seven hour full day at $500 with lunch, a four hour half day at $400, and a three hour evening dry fly float at $300 that launches in the late afternoon during the warmer months. Walk and wade days are available as well. Trips include the boat, rods and reels, flies, leaders and tippet, and cold bottled and sparkling water.
