Erickson Guide Service is run by Kurt from 5025 Avon Dr in Mound, Minnesota, at the western end of a lake that sits about twenty miles from downtown Minneapolis. Open-water guiding is one of three products. The company also rents modern, fully set up ice houses through the winter, and it puts on corporate events for groups of as many as a hundred people, coordinating with other professional guides on the lake whenever a party will not fit in one boat. Payment is by personal cheque, or by Visa or MasterCard with a processing fee, and a cancellation made less than seven days out carries a fee. The firm has been written about in the local press and keeps a media page and a reviews page on its own site, and it publishes its rates, its cancellation policy and a long list of practical questions and answers there rather than by request.
