Rogue Coast Sport Fishing is run by Joe Martin, a fourth-generation Agness, Oregon native who grew up where the Illinois River meets the Rogue. Martin holds a 25-ton U.S. Coast Guard license and Oregon State Marine Board certification, and has guided professionally since 1997, starting in Southeast Alaska before relocating permanently to Agness in 2015. Beyond the Rogue, he also guides the Illinois, Elk, Sixes and Chetco rivers and books halibut trips and fly-fishing instruction. The business partners with area lodges, including Jot’s Resort, Rogue River Lodge, Tu Tu’ Tun Lodge, Cougar Lane Lodge and Lucas Lodge, to host guided trips for their guests.
