Chattooga River Fly Shop is a small brick and mortar business in the Oconee County mountains of upstate South Carolina, standing on Highlands Highway north of Mountain Rest and close to the Georgia line. Fly tying classes are held in the same building as the store, and the inventory is built around the local drainages rather than around travel destinations. The guiding side stays close to home as well, working delayed harvest stretches, the water reached from Burrell’s Ford Road and the East Fork above the Walhalla fish hatchery, along with the Chauga a few ridges over. Guiding and retail are run out of one address rather than split across separate locations.
