Knapps Creek Trout Lodge
Marlinton, West Virginia
The property is a waterfront bed and breakfast at 1101 9th Avenue that sells rooms and guiding together, and it markets Pocahontas County under the name the Birthplace of Rivers. A back porch overlooks the creek and the grounds carry their own access to it, and a four hundred year old white oak once stood on the site. Guests lodging elsewhere in the county can still book a guide day without taking a room, which keeps the guiding side open to visitors who are staying at cabins or campgrounds nearby. Rental tackle is priced as its own line so anglers can arrive with nothing. The lodge holds a permit for the Monongahela National Forest and sells wild trout days on national forest water as a distinct trip, separate from the creek and river bookings.
