Wilderness Voyageurs

Guides work more than fifty miles of the Youghiogheny across Maryland and Pennsylvania, with the Middle Yough and the Lower Youghiogheny named as the stretches trips run on, and more than seventy five miles of trout water inside a thirty minute drive of the shop. Meadow Run, the Casselman and Laurel Hill are fished alongside the main river. A day is floated in an oar rig with the guide on the sticks, or waded, and it takes one or two anglers at $525 for one and $600 for two, lunch included. The season runs from March to November. The river holds up in summer when most of the area’s streams are too low and too warm to be fished, and it keeps good insect activity through it, which is the argument for going there. Trophy browns are the draw and smallmouth are taken as well. Every client is required by law to hold a Pennsylvania fishing licence.
