Capt. Richard Andrews floats the Clinch through the Virginia counties of Tazewell, Russell, Wise and Scott, water the state’s Department of Wildlife Resources has called the crown jewel of the mountain empire. Trips run from a Flycraft raft with Richard on the oars, positioning anglers for the best casts as the boat covers several miles of river across seven to eight hours. The published season runs April through August. Smallmouth bass are the mainstay, with walleye and the occasional musky also taken, and both fly and spin tackle are accommodated.
