Little Creek Outfitters
Maupin, Oregon · Fishes John Day River
Little Creek Outfitters runs raft-supported float trips through the John Day canyon, which its own page calls the Grand Canyon of Oregon and one of the West’s most interesting and least travelled wilderness floats. The water fished lies between Priest Hole and Cottonwood Canyon and covers up to 42 miles on a multi-day trip. Smallmouth bass are the quarry, in the numbers that make the river’s reputation, with steelhead on separate trips. The season is June and July. Fully guided camps run four to five days at $600 per angler per day, self-guided camps at $325, and a one-day float is $750 for a boat of two. Guides row, a gear boat carries the camp, and meals, tents, cots, pads and drinking water are provided.
