White Pine Outfitters holds one of only two permits to guide professionally on the stretch of the St. Joe from Avery down to St. Joe City – the premier stretch for float fishing on the river, in the company’s own words. The quarry is the native westslope cutthroat found only in the inland Pacific Northwest, fished from drift boats rather than on foot. Days run seven to nine hours and cover between five and fifteen miles of river, meeting between seven and ten in the morning at Spring Creek. A one-day trip is $775 and multi-day packages run up to three days and three nights at $5,500. A shore lunch, drinks, guide, boat, shuttle and all tackle bar waders are included.
