Rip Some Lips Guide Service
Salkum, Washington · Fishes Chehalis River, Cowlitz River
The Cowlitz is a Columbia River tributary that spans about 105 miles across Washington State, beginning in the Packwood area and joining the Columbia in the Longview area. The guide service’s own page calls it one of the best salmon and steelhead fishing rivers in Washington and one that continually ranks among the state’s top rivers for both. Salmon and steelhead are the fish. Days are run with drift and jet boat experience behind them, so the water covered shifts with flow and season, and both half days and full days are sold, at single and at group rates.
Rip Some Lips also fishes the Chehalis, describing a river that rises from several forks in southwest Washington and runs roughly a hundred and fifteen miles, gathering tributaries as it goes and holding salmon and steelhead through the year as fish push upstream to spawn. The shop ties it explicitly to the Wynoochee, the Satsop and the Newaukum, all of which it also runs, so a Chehalis booking sits inside a connected set of water rather than standing alone. Rates are published to the hour: a four-hour half day is 210 dollars per person for a single angler or 200 each for two or more, and a six-hour full day is 260 for a single or 250 each for two or more. A seventy-five dollar non-refundable deposit per angler holds the date and the balance is due in cash on the day. Rods, reels, bait and tackle are provided, anglers bring their own Washington licence, children twelve and under must wear life jackets, and bookings are weather dependent.
