Cohutta Fishing Company is a full-service fly shop and guide service that has operated from 490 East Main Street in downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia since 2009. Andy Bowen founded it and now concentrates on the travel side, while owner Drew Friedrich manages the guide staff, a roster that includes Matthew Morrison, Austin McDonald, Monroe Mayfield, Kyle Bierce, Cole Bryant, Hunter Van Horn and Carolyn Dukes. Retail shelves carry Simms, Orvis, Thomas & Thomas, Nautilus, Ross, Fishpond and Montana Fly Company, and the company teaches schools and classes as well as booking guides. Its range takes in mountain rivers, streams and lakes within an hour of the store plus the Etowah River, Tennessee tailwaters and Great Smoky Mountains National Park; a sister arm, Cohutta Travel Company, hosts destination trips to Montana, Alaska, Argentina, the Bahamas, Baja California, Bolivia, Chile, the Seychelles and the Virgin Islands.
