Every Erickson trip is fished on Lake Minnetonka and nowhere else, which is the pitch: the guide runs no trips on other lakes and has spent more than twenty-five years learning this one. Boats leave from Lord Fletcher’s Old Lake Lodge at Spring Park, on Coffee Cove between West Arm and Crystal Bay. A four hour half day is 425 dollars for one or two people, 475 for three and 525 for four, four anglers being the most one boat takes; full days are quoted by telephone. Largemouth bass and northern pike are the primary targets, with smallmouth, walleye and the occasional muskie coming along. Rods, reels and lures are supplied, artificials most of the time and live bait when conditions call for it, and a cooler with ice and water is aboard. Trips go in rain and overcast; only severe weather cancels. Arrive fifteen minutes early, because parking at Fletcher’s fills at weekends.
