Tracewski Fishing Adventures
Old Town, Maine · Fishes Penobscot River
Kevin Tracewski lives on the Penobscot and guides the fifty-mile main stem between Medway and Bangor, together with the river’s three major tributaries. Smallmouth floats are his most popular trip: the boat is a Hyde drift boat with padded swivel seats and knee braces, and while most of the day is fished from it, the river has many shallow braided sections where anglers can step out and wade instead. A full day costs $550 for two anglers and takes in a shore lunch; a half day lasts four hours at $350, and a five-hour option at $450 exists for people coming from Bar Harbor and the mid-coast who need to be back for dinner. The bass are forgiving enough that the trip suits spin anglers, fly anglers and families with children alike, and the fishing tackle is provided. Non-fishing companions come along for the eagles and the scenery.
