Georgia Wild Trout
Cumming, Georgia · Fishes Tallulah River
Georgia Wild Trout guides the Tallulah River above Lake Burton, wide shallow water where boulders and rock outcroppings break the current into trout holding lies, over a bed uneven enough that wading wants care. Trips are wade trips, on public water or on private trophy stream, at a half day of four hours or a full day of eight. The season runs all year: spring holds the largest populations, summer is the strong dry-fly window, autumn and winter bring spawning fish running up out of Lake Burton, and hard winter pushes anglers onto the stocked streams. Insect hatches are modest through the year and dries earn their keep in summer. A blueback herring forage base in the lake grows the run-up fish to trophy size by North Georgia standards.
