Trevin Hoyt Guide Service
Lowell, Oregon · Fishes Siuslaw River Estuary
The bay is the September and October water here. The guide service runs fall salmon trips in the Siuslaw bay between the first of September and the fifteenth of October, trolling for them in Koffler sled boats and taking groups of six people or fewer, and it describes those two months as the season when the Siuslaw is a rich source of salmon. The river above the bay is the winter water. Winter steelhead trips usually run from January to March and are fished from a drift boat, floating the Siuslaw after what the business calls the scrappiest fish you can find in the Northwest and describes as hard-fighting silver bullets. Captain Trevin runs the boat on both, and the stated aim on a salmon day is simply to put the party where the fish are so the chances of reeling one in are at their best. The operation is United States Coast Guard certified and takes bookings seven days a week between seven in the morning and seven at night.
