Murray’s Fly Shop

Murray’s guides half day walk-and-wade trips on the Rapidan and Rappahannock Rivers, priced separately from the shop’s Shenandoah float work and described as offering a different type of water while working the same core skills. Rapidan and Rappahannock smallmouth bass trips run spring, summer and autumn; the Rappahannock also carries a dedicated American shad trip from late March into early May. Smallmouth are fished with streamers, surface bugs and nymphs around banks, structure and current, and both walk-and-wade and float formats are offered depending on water levels. Mountain stream trips on the Blue Ridge headwaters are walk-and-wade for wild and native brook trout, from April into mid-summer.
