Rising Trout Fly Fishing Outfitters
Bozeman, Montana · Fishes Madison River
Drift boat floats work the Upper Madison, the long boulder and riffle run from Hebgen and Quake Lakes down to Ennis Lake that the outfitter calls the fifty mile riffle, with the water below Lyons Bridge described as the drift boat friendly stretch and access at Raynolds Pass, Three Dollar Bridge, Lyons Bridge and Varney Bridge. Walk and wade days go to the Lower Madison, the slower weed lined flats running from Ennis Dam through Bear Trap Canyon toward the valleys near Bozeman, reached at Warm Springs, Black’s Ford and Greycliff. Brown and rainbow trout are the targets. Full days run six to eight hours and include rods, reels, flies, leaders, tippet and tackle plus a riverside lunch and beverages; half days are about four hours with gear but no lunch. Instruction and river shuttles come with the trip. Salmonflies, golden stones, caddis, pale morning duns and baetis carry the season, with yellow sallies and hoppers into summer.
