Grey Reef Anglers
Casper, Wyoming · Fishes North Platte River
Guided floats run the North Platte from a base about ten miles southwest of Casper that overlooks the section called the Narrows. The published water includes the upper eight miles below Grey Reef Dam, the run from that dam down to the Robertson Bridge at Casper, the Miracle Mile between Pathfinder and Seminoe reservoirs, described as resembling a great western free stone river, and Fremont Canyon. Drift boats carry the float trips and walk wade days are offered as well, in half day and full day lengths. Full days include transportation from lodging, lunch, beverages, rods, reels, flies and all tackle; half day anglers bring their own lunch. The operation calls March through May the best stretch of the year for numbers of trout, worked with scuds, midges and mayflies, gives June through August to dry flies and streamers with hoppers and stoneflies, and treats October and November as the forgotten season when spawning brown trout chase streamers.
