ArkAnglers guides the Arkansas River through the upper valley around Salida and Buena Vista, Colorado, water that Colorado Parks and Wildlife designated in 2014 as 102 miles of Gold Medal fishery, the longest in the state. The river fishes through the whole year, and the spring caddis hatch is the event the shop is best known for. Trips run as wade days, drift boat floats, or a combination of the two, with half days typically four hours and full days about eight. Arkansas River wade trips are priced from $385 to $625 depending on the number of anglers, floats from $540 to $750, and the wade and float combination from $1,025 to $1,170. Rental gear, transportation, terminal tackle and flies come with the trip, and full days include a deli lunch. The catch is rainbow trout along with wild brown trout, cutthroat and cutbows. A dedicated introductory wade trip, priced from $415, is offered for anglers new to the sport.
