Anderson Ranch Reservoir is an eight-mile impoundment at Pine, Idaho, about forty minutes outside Mountain Home, and it is loaded with kokanee. Trips are fished aboard a 25-foot Alumaweld Columbia, a wide and stable hull rigged so a party can move around and work several rods without crowding. Mornings start around 7:30 and the day runs until the boat limits out or six hours have passed, whichever comes first. Two anglers is the minimum booking and six the maximum, priced at $250 a head, with a discount once a group takes the whole boat at four or more. The operation specialises in kokanee for every level of experience, from a child’s first fish to a party that wants the proven tactics explained, and the catch is good enough on the table that the business publishes its own barbecue recipe for it.
