Reno, Nevada · Fishes Pyramid Lake
This is a boat operation on Pyramid Lake, some forty miles north east of Reno, and the boats are the point: they reach the whole lake rather than leaving anglers tied to the shoreline. The quarry is trophy Lahontan cutthroat trout, typically in the ten to twenty pound range with larger fish the draw. The season runs from the first of October to the thirtieth of June. Three twenty four foot centre console boats carry the trips, each with three hundred horsepower and fish finding electronics, and each takes up to three anglers. A half day is $700 for one or two anglers and a full day $850, with three anglers $1,000 for the full day. Rods, reels, lines, custom flies, fuel, electronics and instruction are included, along with water and soft drinks; lunch is $25 an angler on request. Technique is chosen against where the fish are holding and how deep.
