Off the Hook Fly Fishing

Off the Hook Fly Fishing is a Napa based guide service owned by Carrie Copithorne with a team of seventeen guides working northern California from the coast to the Sierra. On the Upper Sacramento River it sells a walk and wade program rather than a float, covering water from the headwaters near Mount Shasta down to Lake Shasta and describing it as year round access for wild rainbow and brown trout on nymphs and dries. The posted rate is 625 dollars per day for one or two anglers per guide, covering eight to ten hours on the water with lunch, rods, reels, flies, boots and waders included. The site lays out the hatch calendar in unusual detail: March browns, caddis, pale morning duns and salmonflies from February into April; salmonflies, golden stones, green drakes and caddis in May and June; goldens, caddis and midges through midsummer; October caddis and blue winged olives in early fall; and blue winged olives from November into January.
