Old Moe Guide Service fishes the Green River below Flaming Gorge Dam from a base in Dutch John, Utah, about two miles from the dam itself, working the Red Canyon section and the flatter water downstream. Drift boats handle the float days, sold as half day and full day runs, and overnight river camping trips extend the same water across more than one day, with meals and gear included in the camp. Wading, walking, and hiking access is used where a boat is not the right tool. Brown trout make up the bulk of the population, with the company citing more than 100,000 wild fish, alongside large rainbows and cuttbow hybrids. Dry fly fishing depends on what is hatching on a given day, while nymph fishing produces through the calendar. The guides collectively claim over a hundred years of fly fishing between them.
