Pyramid Lake sits thirty five minutes from Reno where the Truckee River ends, ringed by tufa rock, and holds the largest Lahontan cutthroat trout in the world. Two strains are fished, the Pilot Peak fish that exceed twenty pounds and the Pyramid Summit strain, with Sacramento perch taken late in spring once the water has warmed. Tui chub are the main forage, cruising the shallows through the warmer months and holding deep when it turns cold. The season runs from the first of October to the thirtieth of June. Anglers fish from custom ladder chairs built for the lake and from Water Master personal rafts. A three quarter day of six hours is $600 for two anglers and a full day of eight hours $650, each additional angler $250, with a minimum of two and a thirty percent deposit at booking. Waders, boots, ladder chairs, rafts, rods, reels, leaders, tippet and handmade flies are supplied, as are drinks and snacks. Tribal fishing permits are not included.
