South Branch Outfitters

South Branch Outfitters guides the trout water of the northwest corner of New Jersey from its base in Califon. Public water trips are run on the South Branch of the Raritan, including the Ken Lockwood Gorge, and on the Musconetcong, the Lamington and Black, and the Pequest. Guided days are wade trips sold as half days of about four hours and as full days, and each guide is capped at no more than two anglers so instruction stays workable. Waders, boots, rods and reels can be rented by anyone booking a trip, so a first timer does not need to buy tackle first. The shop also books private water days, teaches fly tying and casting classes, and organizes lodge trips to the Lake Erie steelhead tributaries in northeastern Pennsylvania. Staff post weekly fishing reports tracking conditions and hatches on the local rivers, and group rates are quoted on request.
