Spot On Charters
Gautier, Mississippi · Fishes Pascagoula River
The water is the lower Pascagoula River, the marsh and the basin below Moss Point, running out past Ingalls Shipyard and into the Mississippi Sound, with nearshore runs to Round Island and Horn Island when conditions allow. Boats put in at Indian Point Resort in Gautier. The boat is the Windy Lee, a twenty-four footer with a 225hp V-Max Mercury and Power-Poles for holding on a spot, rigged for up to four anglers. Trips run inshore or nearshore in half-day, three-quarter-day and full-day lengths, described elsewhere as four, six and eight hour packages. The target list is speckled and white trout, redfish, flounder, black drum, sheepshead, pompano and sharks, with fish available across the year and spring and fall singled out as the bites worth booking. Everything is included: name-brand rods, reels and tackle, live shrimp, bait, fuel, ice and bottled water, life vests and Coast Guard safety gear, and everyone aboard fishes under the captain’s licence. The captain helps with casting and baiting, nets and boats the fish, and cleans and bags the catch at the end.
