This is a two guide operation rather than a shop, with Maupin, Oregon named on the site as its home and basecamp. Ben Stephenson owns the business and guides it alongside Evan Unti; between them they hold more than two decades of combined guiding experience on this one river. Both came up through the Deschutes Angler Fly Shop in town, where Stephenson spent eight years as camp host, guide and shop staff and Unti has worked since 2007. Stephenson grew up in nearby Tygh Valley; Unti moved to Maupin in 2007 and splits the year between guiding, work in special education and running a sustainable farm. Their guiding is not confined to Oregon: the pair have worked the Upper King Salmon and Kanektok rivers in Alaska, and the Grande Ronde in northeast Oregon. For overnight trips the outfit either transports anglers from Maupin or shuttles their vehicles for an added charge.
