Pamlico Point Guide Service is Capt. Josh Sutton’s single-boat operation at Oriental, North Carolina, fishing a 22-foot Sea Hunt bay boat with a 250hp Mercury four-stroke, a ten-foot Power Pole shallow-water anchor, a Power Pole Move trolling motor and a Simrad sidescan sounder. The business is deliberately instructional: Sutton says he teaches the technical mechanics and the reasoning behind them, on the view that a client who understands why a strategy works gets more out of the day than one who is simply put on fish.
