Spec Fever Guide Service is Capt. Gary Dubiel’s light-tackle and fly operation at Oriental, North Carolina, built on more than two decades of guiding. Dubiel pioneered the popping-cork approach that turned the state’s giant red drum from a night-time bait fishery into daytime artificial-lure sport, and invented the Pop-N-Fly rig now produced with Flymen Fishing Company. He holds an IGFA fly rod world record for silver salmon and has appeared on ESPN2, NBC Sports, the Sportsman Channel and Discovery Channel Europe. Away from the boat he writes, speaks, ties, presents at fishing shows and consults on travel to Poland, Ireland and Croatia.
