Kennebec River Angler
Caratunk, Maine · Fishes Kennebec River
Kennebec River Angler operates out of Caratunk in Maine’s upper Kennebec watershed and runs guided float trips with Registered Maine Guides. The outfit fishes the Kennebec Gorge, the Bingham section and the Solon section, and also reaches the East Outlet of Moosehead Lake, the Roach River and the West Branch of the Penobscot. Cold water trips target brook trout, landlocked salmon, wild rainbow trout and brown trout, and run from the middle of May through the end of October. Smallmouth bass floats run from late June into mid September and use jet-drive bass boats alongside rafts and drift boats. A full day of fly fishing is priced at $600 for one or two anglers, full day bass trips run $600 to $650, and half day bass floats start at $350 for a party of up to three. The East Outlet water is described as carrying a dry fly hatch that can hold up for months, with fall singled out as a productive stretch of the season. Trips can be built around casting instruction or arranged for larger groups.
