Frontier Anglers TN

Frontier Anglers TN is an Orvis-endorsed fly-fishing guide service based at Maryville, Tennessee, in the country between the Smokies and Knoxville. Owner Josh Pfeiffer, listed on the site as owner, guide and licensed captain, began guiding in the Smokies in 2007 and started his own service in 2009; the crew has been fly fishing since the early 1990s. Three guides work alongside him: Gary Troutman, a licensed USCG captain who joined in 2017, Doug Moore, a licensed captain with more than twelve years on East Tennessee water, and Greg Patterson, who moved to Knoxville and bought his first fly rod in the spring of 2007. The rivers on offer are the Holston below Cherokee, the French Broad below Douglas, the Clinch below Norris, the Little River, the Pigeon and the Caney Fork. The business sells guided days rather than retail or lodging, in three formats: float trips, walk-and-wade trips and instruction, with wade days priced at $300 and $325 for a half day and $350 and $375 for a full day.
