North Texas Catfish Guide Service
Fort Worth, Texas
Chad Ferguson founded this Fort Worth operation in January 2000 and bills it as Texas’s largest and longest-running catfish guide service, working out of 6600 Peden Road on the north side of the city. It is fully licensed and insured, and rather than a one-boat outfit it runs multiple guides and rigs covering different waters around the DFW area: Eagle Mountain Lake, Lake Worth, Lake Lewisville, Lake Grapevine and Lake Ray Roberts alongside the river, plus the Red River. Species coverage widens on those reservoirs to white bass and hybrid stripers. Ferguson has published work in In-Fisherman and Outdoor Life, written numerous books, worked in outdoor television, and co-founded the Catfish Edge brand in 2013; he also sells a signature-series catfish rod and teaches two-hour one-on-one sonar-electronics sessions for $200. His son set a 2011 Texas state junior angler record with a 66.28-pound blue catfish.
