Three different sections of the Yampa are floated, and the river is only floatable for a short stretch of each year, so boat days are sold against a narrow window. A full day is seven hundred dollars and a half day six hundred, with a private put in or take out adding a further hundred. Drift boats carry the trips. Trout and pike are both on the water and the pitch is plainly that this is the river to fish for a chance at a big one. Rainbow, brook and brown trout run through the spring wade season from March to May, with the float season following on from April into June. The guides are River Outfitter Licence trained and carry first aid and CPR certification, and fishing gear, rods, waders and flies come with the day along with a cooler of drinks and snacks. Lunch is not included and is a thirty dollar special order.
