Anadromy Fly Fishing
Forks, Washington · Fishes Bogachiel River
Anadromy Fly Fishing works the Bogachiel, which flows west out of the Olympic Mountains into the Quillayute near Forks and is, unlike most of the peninsula’s glacial rivers, freestone-fed. The business watches for levels between 1,200 and 2,000 cfs as ideal drift-boat conditions and lower water for wading. Its calendar is written to the river rather than the region: winter steelhead from late November through March, with hatchery fish peaking in December and January and wild fish in February and March; summer-run steelhead and sea-run cutthroat from June through August; and coho and chinook in September and October. Trips are run from drift boats and rafts and cover anywhere from four to fourteen river miles in a day. Guests meet at the Thriftway on South Forks Avenue. One or two anglers to a boat is recommended and three is the maximum, with rods and all fishing gear provided, and waders and boots if they are needed.
